Lewis Ntaimo received his Ph.D. in Systems and Industrial Engineering from the University of Arizona (2004), M.S. in Mining and Geological Engineering (2000) and B.S. in Mining Engineering (1998), both from the University of Arizona. He got his University of Cambridge Advanced Levels "A-Levels" in Mathematics (A), Physics (A), and Chemistry (A) in 1994 from Mpelembe Secondary School, Kitwe, Zambia. Ntaimo received his Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification (07760) in June 1999, State of Arizona, USA.

Research interests:

  • Stochastic integer programming; large-scale computational optimization
  • Systems modeling and systems engineering processes
  • Discrete event modeling and simulation using DEVS (discrete event system specification)
  • Dynamic data driven application systems
  • Patient service management in health care

Recent applications:

  • Modeling and simulation of wildfire spread and containment
  • Firefighting resource management under uncertainty
  • Health care systems design: patient service management in hospital radiology
  • Stochastic facility (server) location for telecommunication
