Biographical Sketch
Andrew Johnson has recently completed a Ph.D.
degree in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) at Georgia Institute of
Technology (GT). He received a
Master of Science Degree (2002) from Georgia Tech, and a Bachelor of Science
Degree (2001) in the Department of Industrial
and Systems Engineering at Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University. His research interests
include applied operations research, productivity and efficiency measurement,
mircoeconomics, warehouse design, material handling and Internet based database
applications. He is a member of the German
Club of Virginia Tech, Instintute of Industrial Engineers (IIE), National Eagle Scout Association and
Tau Beta Pi (TBP).
The area I am most interested in is production theory
or production economics. I have collected some links
to other research in this area.
My research has two important components: 1) production
economics and 2) warehouse design and operations. In my dissertation I
combined these two topics and investigated the performance of warehouses.
I used data collected via the iDEAs-W
website to investigate the correction between practices of the warehouse
and attributes of the warehouse with productivity levels. I am interested
in production economics from an engineering point of view. Meaning I am
interested not only in quantifying performance, but also I am interesting in
identifying the connection improvement activities and changes in input and
output consumption. There are many issues that make this task
difficult.
